Aurangabad: Maharashtra BJP leader Ashish Shelar said on Thursday that the saffron flag of the Shiv Sena needs to be sanctified, as the party has joined hands with the NCP and Congress, abandoning the Hindutva agenda.
Shelar’s remarks came after the alleged sensitive remarks made by Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on the BJP flag. Significantly, the Shiv Sena, the BJP’s alliance partner in the NDA, joined hands with the Congress and the NCP after the assembly elections in November last year. The state currently has a government of Maha Vikas Aghadi of Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP alliance, headed by Uddhav Thackeray.
Shiv Sena’s way of working is not democratic
Speaking to the media here, Shelar said, “Shiv Sena’s way of working is not democratic and their thinking is British (colonial). So they only see the Union Jack (the flag of Britain). “He said,” There is a need to sanctify the Shiv Sena flag as it has abandoned the agenda of (party) Hindutva. “
Shelar was campaigning in favor of BJP candidate Shirish Boralkar, contesting for Maharashtra Legislative Council from the undergraduate section of Aurangabad district. Voting is scheduled on December 1.
In the context of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election in 2022, the BJP leader expressed confidence that the party would definitely win the election. Shiv Sena is currently holding BMC. Shelar said, “We will win the election of Mumbai (BMC).” The number of seats of Shiv Sena has come down from 110 (in 2012) to double digit last time (2017). But BJP’s seat count increased from 31 to 84. We will win this election for the development of Mumbai.
On Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat’s alleged statement about allocation of development funds to Congress MLAs, Shelar said coalition partners are not getting respect in the Shiv Sena-led government. Thorat is also the chief of Maharashtra Congress.
When questioned about BJP’s support of Raj Thackeray’s party MNS on the issue of rising electricity rates, Shelar said, “The state government has fooled the electricity consumers and has not given any relief to them.” MNS opposed this and we supported him. ”
