The Thuringian Justice Committee has lifted the immunity of the AfD parliamentary group leader Björn Höcke.
Erfurt – The German press agency learned this on Wednesday from parliamentary groups. This cleared the way for the committee to investigate Höcke. According to reports, the investigation concerns, among other things, a speech that Höcke gave in Merseburg (Saxony-Anhalt) and which, according to a “Spiegel” report, ended with the sentence “Everything for Germany”. According to his own statements, the Saxon-Anhalt Green leader Sebastian Striegel filed a criminal complaint against Höcke on June 8th – for using symbols of unconstitutional organizations. From Thuringian parliamentary groups it was said that the immunity waiver for the member of the state parliament is in connection with Striegel’s complaint. (dpa)
