Although it’s still a month before Christmas, the Christmas season at Sky Radio has officially started. The radio station has traditionally been renamed The Christmas Station this morning. ABBA singer Björn Ulvaeus gave the digital starting signal.
Listeners can now enjoy non-stop Christmas hits. I hope you have a wonderful time with your loved ones and all your favorite Christmas songs. I, Björn, and all my friends at ABBA hereby declare The Christmas Station open. Merry Christmas everyone,” said the singer.
The Christmas period is ushered in every year on Sky Radio by a special guest. That Björn Ulvaeus now belongs to that list, Uunco Cerfontaine, Radio Director Sky Radio, considers it ‘an honour’, he says. After all, ABBA is a phenomenon. It’s great that we can also enjoy new ABBA hits again, with the song Little Things as the icing on the cake,” referring to the band’s new Christmas song.
Sky Radio is one of the most listened to stations every year at the end of the year. Last year, the station scored a record number of listeners. On Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, 3.7 million people listened.
