The official video of the song, a preview for the XIX century, starting from the passion for Genoa, goes beyond the football faith and tells the magical relationship between a father and a son
Genoa – Starting from a visceral love and sometimes foolish like that for a football team and then get to draw the lines of a more complex story, one that focuses on the feelings and values handed down from a father to a son. “Another season” is the new single signed by the couple formed by Michele Bitossi, founder of Numero6, and by Pagano, Genoese songwriters who have relied on the excellent productions of Ale Bavo, already at work with Subsonica and Samuel. The song, pop and all to sing, was released on Friday 19 November for The Prisoner Records in distribution The Orchard, while the video, after being broadcast at the stadium during the Genoa-Rome match, will be public from Wednesday 24 November. But from today it can already be previewed for the 19th century. The single is an unconditional love song for Genoa CFC 1893, the football team that both Genoese songwriters have always followed with enormous passion and suffering.
“Over the years it has occurred to me more than once to write a song that spoke of Genoa. I sketched ideas, but every time I abandoned the company because, as De André said, writing an anthem for your favorite team is impossible, you are too involved – says Bitossi – in short, there was always something that held me back. With “Another season” it was different because we start from football to get to something even deeper, told in the video we shot. The song was born practically straight away. Jacopo, Pagano, and I met in the studio for a writing session, we started talking about football and within an hour the song was written ».
The video, shot by the Irwin Kovac collective under the artistic direction of Stefano Piccardo, sees the extraordinary participation of the actor Ignazio Oliva. Shot on board a fishing boat, it is a sort of small docu that stages the relationship between a father and a son, a relationship made up of traditions, professions and passions handed down. Among the passions there is also that for Genoa. “Michele and I are from two different generations, yet passions like music and football have the power to go beyond time – says Pagano, singer-songwriter born in 1990 – with Michele we know each other because he is helping me as a producer for my solo career. . Already in my piece “Ultrà” we started from a football reference and then opened a broader and more articulated discourse. This is because football is not just football, for those who really follow it. It is a world full of stories, of difficult moments, but also beautiful ones, moments that unite. There is a strong sense of belonging. During the journey aboard the fishing boat, the son sees his father as an example, as someone capable of transmitting something important and precious to him: this is a universal message ».
And there are indelible relationships. “It was my father who took me in 1979 for the first time in Gradinata Nord. From that moment on, every “simple” match has been transformed into sharing a passion – concludes Bitossi – my father is no longer here, but it is as if I continue to see Genoa with him, always. What is giving us great satisfaction are the many messages from fans, not only from Genoa, to which the piece is arriving with emotion ».
