The Lurauto Sailing Trophy, organized by the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club during the months of September and October, ended in the Biscayan waters of the Abra after a fourth day conditioned by the drop in wind on the course of the Regatta classes and Cruise. The J80 one-designs were able to complete the three planned routes. The absolute winners of this championship were José Azqueta’s Biobizz, Javier Onaindia’s Symphony, José Miguel Franco’s Bacilón and Ander Estefanía’s Kohen.
José Azqueta’s Biobizz confirmed from the opening day its favoritism among the boats in the J80 division, with three other victories in the tests scheduled by the Committee, the last of them arriving in the Abra interior with almost no wind. Biobizz finished first with 7 points -two discards-, compared to the 32 that Pablo Gomeza’s Obelix finished with and the 33 of Juan Mocoroa’s Brut, third placed. Afterwards, Pilgrim, Rural Kutxa, Mandovi dalecandELA, Surne, Wilco, Jet Set, Fingolfin and Ausart were placed.
Test canceled
For their part, the Race and Cruise class boats were unable to finish their 18 and 12 mile routes, respectively. And the departure was at 1:05 p.m. with a northwest wind of 18 knots and some gusts of up to 21, but it gradually fell during navigation until it disappeared and left the classifications as they were at the conclusion of the third day after the last one was cancelled. . Thus, in the Regatta class, Javier Onaindia’s Symphony won the absolute victory, with Carlos Maidagan’s Despeinada second. Alfonso Churruca’s Alpega finished third in the final overall, followed by Juan Valdivia’s Txupinazo, Javier Chávarri’s Rat Pack, Mikel Emaldi’s Maitena and Mauricio Guibert’s Akelarre. El Despeinada scored the victory thanks to its first position on the third scoring day.
In Cruise I, José Miguel Franco’s Bacilón, winner of the three previous races, was first, with Marmotinha (Beldarrain, Garaizar, Peñañori) second and Javier Trueba’s Nexus third. In Cruise II, Ander Estefanía’s Kohen took the victory (2 points), followed by Íñigo Aldea’s Blai (3 points), Javier Gómez de Segura’s Haize Lore (4 points) and Jairo López de Guevara’s Ramper . This Lurauto Trophy closed with the awards ceremony in El Saltillo by the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club.
