In KTM it’s bittersweet
KTM’s Saturday in Motegi was full of bitterness regarding the results of the Sprint race. Even beforeto fall that put GasGas team standard bearer Pedro Acosta offside while he was comfortably in command of the race and on his way to success, another problem – this time of a technical nature – had instead hit the ‘official’ bike of Brad Binder.
The South African had been the absolute protagonist of the early stages of the race, finding himself firmly in the lead fourth position after starting from the fifth spot on the grid. But suddenly his RC16 has lost power after three laps of the raceforcing #33 into a bitter retirement. Initially it was not clear what the reasons for Binder’s withdrawal were, but then it was the Austrian manufacturer itself that provided an explanation for what happened.
“We identified that the problem was caused by an unexpected malfunction of the electronics – KTM explained in a note – this, in turn, affected engine performance. The team is already working hard to understand what exactly happened to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”. Tomorrow, barring further problems, Binder could be one of the contenders for the top positions if he can confirm the good pace shown today at the start of the race.
