In the category ‘not completely undisputed design’ we can add another new Bimota. Or even two: the Bimota KB4 and KB4 RC. The first is the faired version, the second a (semi) naked.
Since the takeover by Kawasaki, Bimota has been working on a cautious restart, although it still remains somewhat unclear what exactly is the idea behind the umpteenth reincarnation of the brand. And above all, what intention Kawasaki has with it. Anyway, the Bimota KB4 and KB4 RC have now been launched at the EICMA and that immediately caused a lot of buzz on the show floor. It looks rather, er, ‘different’ shall we say. With a little imagination you can recognize the KB1 in the KB4.
After the 2020 H2 Tesi, these are now the second and third model since the Kawa meddling. Where the supercharger formed the basis for the H2, the block of the Z1000 has been removed from the shelves for the KB series: good for 142 hp and 111 Nm. Even the frame has been copied one-on-one from the now retired naked, which you might not immediately expect given the Bimota history of hardcore frame builders. The (extremely) beautiful swingarm and the radiator incorporated in the seat unit are made in-house. If there is a lack of space, this is of course a great option, although an extra fan is needed to keep things cool. Benelli already treated us to this solution with the Tornado Trè.
We also see a lot of carbon, Brembo M50s, Öhlins all around and a set of forged OZ wheels. The dry weight eventually comes to 187 kilos. You still owe us the price and delivery of the Kb4 and Kb4 RC.
