Bills rise, Eugenio Filograna: “Every minute a business closes in Italy”
The suffering of many companies is a wound shared by all Italian VAT numbers. Every day coincides with the closure of many companies that do not know how to pay bills, fodder from their farms or water.
Every day our National Association of Autonomous and VAT numbers arrive dramatic stories of small and medium-sized businesses through our switchboards and all social channels.
Stories that are difficult to tell. What is happening is often compared to a speculation comparable to loan sharking, as it is required five times more than what was paid until a few months ago for the electricity that is necessary to continue the business. No business is immune from this situation, but those most affected are small and medium-sized enterprises, traders, fishermen, hauliers, and, above all, farmers and ranchers for whom electricity is essential to refrigerate milk. And here bills suddenly went from 2000 to 8000 euros per month; cattle slaughtered and sold below cost to pay bills and raw materials; farmers who no longer have fodder as the stock needed to feed the animals has run out. And we know that for a breeder this is the most tragic situation. A life spent without holidays, days of holidays, to now have to fight against injunctive acts.
The price of milk increased by almost 40% to the detriment of consumers is not enough to bear the costs. Same situation for farmers forced to extract water to water their crops from artesian wells, with submerged pumps that raise energy bills from 45,000 to 150,000. Meanwhile, consumer prices are rising dramatically, so much so as to curb purchases. Producers fail to make ends meet and start to go out of business.
Dairy
Entrepreneurs then threaten to close down, lay off workers and demand Citizenship Income to survive.
So many stories, almost always similar that create a “domino” effect. An example? The farmers’ crisis is reflected in the dairies where the costs of the bills exceed the profit of the company.
What about the outburst of a cheesemaker: “I had nothing, I built a dairy of my own which allowed me to build a house for which I always paid taxes; now, however, the state is taking everything. In recent years I have not eaten to give my children a future; I have always been a decent person and today I am forced to end up on the bad payers list because I cannot pay the bills. I have decided to close. I abandon everything. I can’t work at a loss ”.
The National Autonomous Association and VAT number with the head of president Eugenio Filograna asks the new government to contribute 50% on energy bills. However, it is the first necessary step which must be followed by the implementation of our Equitable Recovery project.
There are no other solutions and we must act quickly. Every minute a company closes in Italy. Try to count. How many will be at the end of the current year?
