Mosque communities in Cologne can call their believers to prayer. For Mayor Reker, the permission to call the muezzin is “a sign of respect”.
Cologne – In Cologne* the call of the muezzin could soon be heard. As part of a model project, mosque communities can call their believers to Friday prayers. However, there are some rules that apply to participating in the project. Among other things, the municipalities have to submit an application. “To allow the muezzin call is a sign of respect for me,” says Cologne’s mayor Henriette Reker*.
24RHEIN * shows the conditions under which the muezzin call is possible in Cologne.
The project is initially limited to two years. It will then be decided whether the regulation will be retained. *24RHEIN is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
