Biden says ‘world will hold Russia accountable’ for Ukraine attack

Joe Biden responded to the announcement by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, regarding the start of military operations in Ukraine.

“The prayers of the entire world are with Ukraine tonight in the face of the unwarranted and provoked attack by Russian military forces,” the White House statement read.

“President Putin has chosen a premeditated war that will bring catastrophic loss of human life. Russia is responsible for the death and destruction.”

In addition, Biden affirmed in his short statement that the United States and its allies will respond in unity.

He explained that he will follow the situation from the White House overnight and that on Thursday morning he will meet with his G7 counterparts. before turning to the Americans to “announce further consequences” against Russia for “this unnecessary act of aggression against Ukraine and global peace and security.”

“We will also coordinate with our NATO allies to ensure a strong response and unity that will deter any aggression against the Alliance,” the US president added.
