Today, Friday, US President Joe Biden made statements about the ongoing evacuation of civilians in Afghanistan since the Taliban took control of the capital, Kabul.
Biden said, in statements he made at the White House, that “the United States has evacuated 13,000 people from Kabul since August 14.”
The US President added that the United States is in close contact with the Taliban movement to obtain the possibility to allow entry to Afghans at Kabul airport.
He explained that his country is closely monitoring in anticipation of any possible attacks inside or near the airport.
The United States, and other countries of the world, began evacuating its diplomats, citizens, and Afghans working with it.
