On Thursday, US President Joe Biden expected that the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the United States will exceed half a million during the next month.
Biden added, in a meeting at the White House on the developments of the emerging corona virus, that the process of distributing vaccines to prevent the disease has so far been unsuccessful.
“Things will continue to deteriorate before they start to improve,” he said.
Biden announced the imposition of a quarantine on all arrivals by air to the United States as part of measures aimed at curbing the spread of the virus.
Biden said, “In addition to putting on protective masks, everyone who travels to the United States from another country will need to undergo a (health) test before boarding the plane (…) and to be quarantined upon arrival.” The health test was applicable under the previous administration, while quarantine was included in the category of recommendations.
The United States recorded 4,261 deaths during the past 24 hours.
The United States is the country most affected by the epidemic, with 406,162 deaths out of 24,438,935 cases, according to the Johns Hopkins University census.
