Biden said that the establishment of a ceiling on oil prices from the Russian Federation will reduce the cost of fuel in the United States
US President Joe Biden, during a meeting with economic aides, assessed the consequences of imposing a price ceiling on Russian oil. In his opinion, this measure will reduce the cost of fuel in the country. The broadcast was on Twitteraccount of the White House.
The head of state noted that the measures taken by Washington, including those aimed at increasing oil production and releasing oil from the strategic reserve, made it possible to achieve a reduction in the cost of gasoline within 38 days.
Biden acknowledged that the price of fuel is still too high, and the rate of decline is not fast enough. He urged US oil and gas companies to use record profits to build up production and processing capacities.
“We will talk about the global price ceiling for Russian oil, which I persuaded our partners to agree to last month at the G7 meeting. This will increase supply and reduce income. [президента России Владимира] Putin,” the head of the White House emphasized.
Earlier, US Deputy Treasury Secretary Adewale Adeyemo said that Washington expects to impose a ceiling on oil prices from Russia by December 2022 in order to reduce energy prices.
