With wood and Vesa in Hietalahti are the latest men’s prize-winners, Puurunen took bronze and Hietalahti silver at the 2003 Khanty-Mansiysk World Championships.

Before the start of the season, Seppälä spoke about the change in the coaching pattern: a Russian coach hero who coached the Finnish national team in 1998–2002 Anatoly Hovantsev leads a coaching team in the landscapes of Kontiolahti, to which Seppälä belongs.

“Hovantsev has seen so many coaches in his career that he knows the needs of the individual. I have increased the type of training, ”Seppälä told STT at the end of November.
