28-year-old Brandon Presha from the American state of South Carolina was arrested this week for putting a tattoo on the body of his – not yet grown – daughter in the middle of a McDonald’s restaurant. The father is being charged with tattooing without the required papers and for tattooing a minor, which is prohibited by law.
In a high-profile video, which has been massively distributed by young people on TikTok in recent days, it can be seen that a man wearing gloves puts a tattoo on the arm of a young girl, in the middle of a McDonald’s restaurant, somewhere in the city of Laurens ( approximately 9,000 inhabitants) in South Carolina.
The remarkable incident dates back to August 6, but only came to the attention of the police later when detectives were tagged in several messages. Further investigation led the police to the trail of 28-year-old Brandon Presha, an unqualified hobby tattoo artist. He admitted that he was in the video and that the tattooed girl is his very own child.
The age of the girl has not been released, but it is certain that she is a minor. Laurens’ police chief spoke of an ‘absolutely disgusting display’. “It is truly tragic that this has happened in this newly renovated business. The new owners tried to bring this McDonald’s back to life.”
In our restaurants, nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of our customers and employees. The reported behavior is not in line with our organization’s values
The owner of the branch insures in consultation with news week that he will do everything he can to ensure that this does not happen again. “In our restaurants, nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of our customers and employees. The reported behavior is not consistent with our organization’s values or with our expectations of how restaurants should be run.”
McDonald’s is investigating the incident and will take appropriate action to ensure the restaurant is “a safe place for employees to work and for customers to enjoy.”
The American father was arrested by the police on Tuesday and put in jail. Both charges come with a bail of about $25,000.
In South Carolina you have to be 18 years old to get a tattoo. In addition, tattoo permits are required at all times. The state wants to limit the risk of infection among customers as much as possible.
