The Cartagena contest concert will be held on February 5 with a piece by Óscar Navarro and the clarinet by José Luis Inglés at El Batel
The Cartagena City Council cycle ‘Between Strings and Metals’ will offer its traditional extraordinary concert on February 5. On this occasion, the clarinetist from Cartagena will perform José Luis Inglés, winner of the 2012 edition. The music performed will be ‘Leyendas’, a premiere work composed by the Goya nominee Óscar Navarro from Alicante. “The concert will have a special singularity, since we will attend the absolute premiere in Europe of one of the works of the more than known and established composer Óscar Navarro, entitled ‘Leyendas'”, highlighted the mayor of culture David Martínez, this Tuesday, during the presentation of the event at the Castillo de la Concepción (Cartagena).
World Premiere
Navarro’s music has received a score of awards from awards and nominations from Spain, the United States, the Netherlands, Singapore, Italy, India, France and South Africa, among others, the ‘Hollywood Music in Media Awards’ (Los Angeles), BUMA Award (Holland) for the best international composer, the 10th Film Music Criticism Awards. As well as a nomination for the Goya Awards of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain with the BSO for the film ‘La mula’.
International clarinetist
Navarro’s music will be performed by the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Leonardo Martínez, along with the performance of the Cartagena soloist José Luis Inglés, winner of the 2012 contest ‘Between Strings and Metals’ and an early member of the Los Sauces de Cartagena Musical Group. “Today he is among the best and most valued clarinetists internationally,” said the councilor. A young man who has studied at the School of Music of Catalonia and the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW in Basel (Switzerland), where he currently resides. For the director of the Cartagena Symphony, Leonardo Martínez, this extraordinary concert that ‘Between Strings and Metals’ organizes every year is the “emblem of the program and this year it is going to be enjoyed a lot musically speaking.”
Borodín and Tchaikovsky
In the second part of the concert, the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra will perform two of the most popular works in the classical repertoire, such as Aleksandr Borodín’s’ Polovtsiana’s Dances and the ‘1812 Overture’ by composer Piotr Ilich Tchaikovsky. An event that will be held at the El Batel Auditorium at 8:00 p.m. Tickets can now be purchased on the auditorium page (auditorioelbatel.es) from 8 euros. There will be 50% discounts for conservatory students and for young people in general.
