But her arrival on the platform has not only revived the popularity of Beatriz and the rest of the characters, but also of its actors, who today keep their career high.
One of them is Natalia Ramírez, actress who gave life to Marcela Valencia, the ‘villain’ of the story. With several interviews in which she talks about what it was like to record this television boom, in 2019, the artist shared a secret behind the scenes on the program “La movida”.

When one of the presenters asked her about “the moment you can’t forget about ‘Betty'”, she replied that it was that time when Marcela left Ecomoda and gave Armando to Beatriz. “I have several, but the one that Fernando Gaitán (creator of the telenovela) wrote for me is incredible,” she explained.

What happened in the end between Beatriz and Marcela Valencia?
In the sequence that Ramírez mentions, Marcela, already tired of the situation in Ecomoda, is honest with Betty, who had decided to leave the company. Here, the executive tells her that she was offended by what had happened between her boyfriend and the economist, but that —after confronting Armando— he told her: “I love Beatriz.”
For more than 10 minutes, the character stars in one of the most decisive monologues of “Ugly Betty”. The result causes Marcela’s goodbye to the plot and the end point to the love she felt for Armando Mendoza.
Why did Natalia Ramirez leave “Betty, the ugly”?
In April 2021, the interpreter spoke with the Colombian journalist Carlos Ochoa and recalled his time in the soap opera. Here, she explained why Marcela left before the final chapter of “I am Betty, the ugly one”.
“I signed a contract with Telemundo. She was already very tired and exhausted. I warned Fernando in advance and he did not give Marcela a closure. When the last episode was approaching, we were surprised by the scene that she had prepared. It was a gift,” she shared.
