Quirinale, Berlusconi’s strategy: if I go to Colle, no elections
No elections in the event of a climb to the Colle: this is Silvio Berlusconi’s strategy to obtain the Quirinale. The Knight, in fact, is convinced of being able to obtain from the fourth ballot the 505 votes necessary to become the next President of the Republic.
According to unveiled from The Corriere della Sera, the former prime minister in recent days is engaged in dozens of phone calls aimed at scrapping as many votes as possible in view of the race to the Colle.
Not only that, in Arcore they would be convinced that they already have the votes necessary for the proclamation: to the 414 great electors of Forza Italia, Lega and Fratelli d’Italia, in fact, there would be added a hundred votes between organic centrists to the center right and deputies and senators who no longer respond to any group.
To these, it is the reasoning that is made in the entourage of the Cavaliere, the votes of Italia Viva could be added: here the objective of obtaining the Quirinale would become more concrete.
But the real card that the former Prime Minister is spending is one: to pass the message that, if he were elected to the Quirinale, the legislature would end on its natural expiry, in 2023, while if Draghi were to go to the Colle, then Forza Italy would immediately leave the government with the risk of going to early elections.
This strategy is aimed at convincing all those deputies and senators who, having the certainty of never returning to Parliament, fear early elections, which is why they would be ready to do anything to have the guarantee of staying at the Palace until 2023.
Political fiction? Who knows, in the meantime the Knight to work on his candidacy, demonstrating that he truly believes in the possibility of conquering the Quirinale.
