The Max Factor
Despite driving a Red Bull that is not as dominant as last season, Max Verstappen he is leading the F1 world championship with 56 points ahead on the first of the opponents, Charles Leclerc. In particular in the Montreal race, the Dutchman showed all his talent and his coolness in bringing home a success – his sixth of the season – without probably having the best car of the lot.
The Mercedes sirens
If in recent weeks the rumors about a possible and sensational transfer of Max Verstappen to Mercedes seemed to be concrete, they gradually disappeared with the passing of the days, postponing the hypothesis of the Dutchman’s change of jersey to 2026, in correspondence with the new regulatory cycle.
Gerhard Berger he spoke precisely about this idea in an interview with the Sunday edition of Bild: “Max is certainly reflecting on how things will continue without his mentor Helmut Marko and technical guru Adrian Newey. Red Bull is definitely the best solution at the moment, but when Max realizes that his car is starting to weaken and sees an advantage elsewhere, he will seize this opportunity.”
On the move to Mercedes, Berger explained: “I don’t see him there at the moment. Toto Wolff is trying hard to get it, but even Max knows that his driving talent would not be enough to put Mercedes back on the road to victory. The car is not fast enough, because it has two excellent drivers in Russell and Hamilton.”
