Bentley led the model Flying Spur Hybrid for the first time to perform in Europe. The British car, in plug-in hybrid format with a 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery, it was shown at the Autoworld Museum in Brussels for the 2022 edition of the show, inaugurating the European season of the model already sold in China and the United States.
Belgium, according to Bentley itself, is the perfect place because it symbolizes the centrality of the electric or electrified car in the European 2021 market. The new engine combines a 2.9-liter V6 petrol engine with an electric motor that delivers a total of about 540 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque; the car can travel up to 700 km at full capacity, of which a maximum of 40 in pure electric mode.
The revelation to the European public of the Flying Spur Hybrid model, after introducing the Bentayga Hybrid, marks an important step in the Beyond100 strategy. This strategy expects Bentley to become a fully electric brand by 2030. Balazs Rooz, Bentley Regional Director for Europe, commented: “We look forward to connecting with Bentley brand customers and fans at Autoworld. With the recent announcement of our performance across Europe in 2021, with a double-digit increase, 2022 will be another challenging year. While the Flying Spur Hybrid will reach our customers from April onwards, we are thrilled to hear feedback from this first public appearance in Europe.“.
Flying Spur Hybrid can be ordered in most non-European markets, while it is currently not available in European Union countries, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Israel, Ukraine, Norway, Turkey and Vietnam. Incredible, but true: a British brand that has not yet launched one of its most representative models in its native land is the symbol of a market whose boundaries do not always follow the linearity of the past.
