A 1% weight loss, that’s the effect of these carbon rims on the Bentley Bentayga. These are 22-inch units, made by Italian specialist Bucci Composites and available through Bentley’s Mulliner personalization program.

These rims specially developed for the Bentayga have passed the full test procedure of the German TÜV and are therefore homologated for use on public roads. It is the largest carbon fiber rim in the world, the first to be TÜV approved, and undoubtedly also one of the most expensive
Compared to a normal metal rim for this model, a weight gain of 6 kilos per wheel is achieved here, or 24 kilos on the entire car; that’s roughly 1% in the case of the Bentayga W12. It concerns unsprung weight, so that the effect on road and braking behavior will be clearly felt.
The increased stiffness also means that the rim deforms less during hard cornering, allowing the tire to do its job better and thus generate extra grip; at least that’s what tests on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring showed.
Bentayga drivers will be able to order these rims from the end of 2021.
