The British car manufacturer Bentley, under the control of the Volkswagen Group, closed 2021 with excellent results. Similarly to rival Aston Martin, sales and demand for the vehicles have grown, but unlike Lawrence Stroll-owned manufacturer, Bentley did not suffer particular delays and inconveniences in preparing the cars. The positive consequence was a + 31% compared to 2020, which had already been a record.
Bentley has in fact delivered 14,659 cars in the course of 2021, with double-digit percentage growth in all markets. The highest sales peaks were reached in the United States, China and in general in the Asia-Pacific area. Together, the Americas and China contributed more than half (56%) of total global sales. According to Bentley, this significant result “was driven by the introduction of new models, a new product portfolio and by the growing demand for the hybrid, elements introduced as part of the Beyond100 strategic path that will go towards the complete electrification of the brand by 2030“.
Bentayga is at the top of this pyramid. In addition to its 40% share, the performance of the luxury touring car Continental GT, which added 33% of total sales (split between 60% coupe and 40% convertible) and Flying Spur, which closes the picture, are noteworthy. In particular, growth is expected for this model in 2022 with the introduction, here too, of the hybrid. Another sign of a great season comes from EuropeBentley closed the year with the delivery of 2,520 cars, up from a figure of 2,193 in 2020, a 15% increase.
Adrian Hallmark, President and CEO of Bentley Motors, said: “2021 was yet another year of unpredictability, although I am pleased to be able to confirm that we have overcome significant difficulties and that we have taken a step forward in our sales performance. This is our second consecutive year that we have achieved a record sales. The reaction to the introduction of the Bentayga Hybrid on the market confirms the soundness of our investments“. For every five Bentayga sold, one is hybrid.
