The main helmsman of INEOS Britannia, Ben Ainslie, stated this Saturday, after losing in the final of the America’s Cup against Emirates Team New Zealand (7-2), that he will continue in the British team, but that he still does not know “with what role”.
Once the 37th edition of the nautical competition is over, the four-time Olympic champion assured that he will continue with INEOS “one hundred percent” without specifying whether it will be on or off the boat, and confirmed that the British will repeat as ‘Challenger of Record’ ( first challenger).
“Emirates is the best team in the history of the competition, since they have had an incredible championship and are fair winners”
“We are going to learn from the experience lived in Barcelona. This has been one of the best recent editions. There are very good possible venues in Europe, hopefully the future one will be British,” highlighted the INEOS helmsman, winner of the ‘Round Robin’ (qualifying group) and the Challengers Tournament.
Regarding the final, Ainslie stressed that they have lost against “the best team in the history of the competition” and that the ‘kiwis’ “have had an incredible championship and are fair winners” because they have had “better performances, maneuvers and control of the wind ”.
The British sailing star made a special mention of Barcelona as the venue and highlighted the celebration of the first Women’s America’s Cup and the return of the Young America’s Cup, in which, she noted, “incredible talent has been seen.” ”.
