With the money from the sale of the gold bullions, the former religious rent a hotel and buy a land for the breeding of dogs
The exmonjas of Belorado have imposed restrictions that deeply affect their lives. They have been blocked accounts and legal representation of their basic subsistence activities, preventing their ability to undertake and contribute to society. These limitations restrict their creativity and hinder any possibility of progress.
The zoo core license has been denied, although, since always, the nuns have raised and care animals such as dogs, pigs and chicks, a completely normal activity for centuries in Spanish convents and monasteries.
In addition, they have been prevented from participating in culinary events of an informative nature, bank accounts have been intervened and judicially demanded.
In recent months they have been subject to all kinds of negative campaigns, dissemination of bulos and rumors, denigration campaigns and reputational attacks.
They have also been forbidden to expand their activities, instead of receiving support to promote entrepreneurship in Spain. They have not been allowed to bill or sell, boycotting their ability to continue elaborating their chocolates, thus limiting their creativity and culinary tradition.
Entrepreneurial nuns punished for work so much
The nuns are, above all, entrepreneurs, charismatic women and with initiative, but have never ceased in their creative and entrepreneurial spirit, says Francisco Canals, press manager.
Therefore, and in its constant entrepreneurial character to the search for solutions to this normative limitations campaign, they have decided:
Rent a hotel for 1,600 euros per month and buy land for the breeding and care of dogs and other animals. Clarisas nuns have various projects related to breeding and training of dogs for battered women, the formation of guide dogs for disadvantaged groups, among others.
Clarify that they have not renounced Belorado, but seek to strengthen their community. They have urgent invoices to pay and very limited resources, which has led them to explore another autonomous community to find this temporary solution.
Rent a hotel, La Ribera del Chicu, in Arriondas (Asturias), where the regulatory framework allows them to elaborate their famous chocolates.
Its project includes the management of the zoo core, located at a short distance from the hotel. A part of the community (three nuns) will reside in the rooms of the establishment, while the ground floor will go to a closing restaurant. The nuns will take care of the kitchen, while the staff will serve tables and customers thus preserving their closure.
The restaurant will offer a combination of traditional Asturian dishes together with recipes of the coat of the coat of the clarisas, giving a special role to the pastry, muffins and chocolates of the nuns of Belorado.
