Lonely protester set fire to fire on Independence Square in Minsk on Friday, news site says with reference to data from the Ministry of the Interior and Health. According to eyewitnesses, the protester lied to himself in the middle of the day with some flammable liquid and set it on fire.

Authorities said the 35-year-old man was taken to hospital unconscious. Her condition is serious, according to a hospital source, and more than half of her skin has burned.

The exact cause of the protest or the identity of the 35-year-old is not yet known.

Belarus the opposition has been calling its supporters for big demonstrations in all the country’s big cities for a long time, says the opposition channel Nexta On its Telegram page and on Youtube. According to the invitation, the protests are scheduled to begin at the same time as the Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalnyin in support of demonstrations in Russia.

Russian authorities have shut down channels calling for protests on social media and are preparing to suppress Saturday’s rallies by force.

The Belarusian opposition has been demonstrating regularly since the August rigged presidential election. The big demonstrations in the autumn subsided due to police violence and large-scale arrests, but protests have continued, at least in Minsk, by city district.
