Cologne and Düsseldorf form an unusual alliance and promote tourists together. The initiators speak of a “historical alliance”.
Cologne / Düsseldorf – Actually, the metropolises on the Rhine apply Cologne* and Dusseldorf* rather than bitter rivals. Regardless of whether it’s football, ice hockey or carnival – the cathedral city tries to outdo the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia and vice versa. But in terms of tourism, the two cities go on Rhine* now an alliance. Together they promote the “Discover Düsseldorf Day” (August 21-22) and two weeks later the “Discover Cologne Day” (September 4th to 5th).
24RHEIN * reports how the alliance between Cologne and Düsseldorf came about.
“Some have that Dom*, the others the state capital, but otherwise the similarities prevail in Düsseldorf and Cologne – famous beer, the carnival and the neighboring location on the Rhine that attracts guests from near and far, “says a joint message in which even one “Historical alliance” is spoken of.
