Tade Bogachar increased his overall lead in the Tour de France by winning the 176.3-kilometre seventh stage between Tomblin and La Super La Blanche de Bellevue.
The Slovenian rider, the defending champion in the last two years, outperformed Denmark’s Jonas Weingard, last year’s runner-up, at the end of the stage.
Primoz Roglic, runner-up in 2020, finished third, 12 seconds behind.
Bogachar leads the overall standings by 35 seconds over Weingard, while Britain’s Geraint Thomas is third, one minute 10 seconds behind the lead.
The stage saw a quick start led by previous stage winners of the Tour de France, such as German Lennard Kamenh rider Bora Hansgrohe, who was well ahead of the last kilometer when Bugacher decided to take the risk.
Bogacher and Vingaard caught his lair with less than 100 meters left.
The Danish rider had a two-bike-long lead over Bogachar and appeared to be on course to win the stage, but the UAE Team Emirates rider’s Bugacher revved up to win his second stage in two days.
Kameneh took fourth place, while Thomas finished fifth, as both runners crossed the finish line 14 seconds behind the yellow jersey.
Frenchman David Goode finished sixth, 19 seconds behind, to advance to fifth place in the general standings, one minute 31 seconds behind the lead and 13 seconds behind Britain’s Adam Yates, who finished fourth.
