A dream debut
Oliver Bearman he didn't even have time to realize he was going to be a pilot Ferrari F1 in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix who found himself catapulted into the cockpit of the SF-24 for FP3. The 18 year old British – who replaced the convalescent Carlos Sainz – then dazzled everyone for the iunexpected maturity and after qualifying he finished in 11th place, he was able to do even better in the race, finishing 7th and ahead of his illustrious compatriots Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton.
The curiosity
Obviously the media spotlight has shone on the young Bearman and in particular the English tabloids have dedicated pages upon pages to his story.
In particular the The Sun discovered a rather curious episode: Oliver Bearman – although flawless and error-free on his F1 debut – he was not equally perfect in his driving test.
This was revealed by David Currey, a driving instructor who asked for repetitions in 2022 after the first one failure. In fact, Bearman did not pass the first attempt: “We had a lesson in his BMW, but I felt safe with him. He had failed the exam because of something that happened with a traffic light. Maybe he passed with a yellow light or didn't stop”. After the extra lessons, however, Bearman managed to obtain a driving licence, which in the UK can be obtained at the age of 17.
