Guasave, Sinaloa.- The president of the Association of Farmers of the Sinaloa Poniente River (AARSP) in Guasave, reported that the bean cultivation did not suffer consequences with the low temperatures, but it was hoped to have good returnsbut not even that could be done, since it is only giving them less than a ton per hectare.
Baltazar Aguilasocho Montoya recognized that this production is far below what they had planned.
Expectations
He also pointed out that everything indicates that beans are having a slow rebound, but the production that was expected will not be had, nor will the existence of the inventories that have been mentioned above be counted on.

He stressed that so far there is already an offer of 21 pesos per kilo of the basic, but the yield is less than a ton.
“Yes, there have been yields of two tons per hectare, but also some low yields of less than a ton, as well as a ton and a half, since yields much higher than two tons were expected,” he stressed.
He explained that many times this is due to the fact that what they have always recommended as an organization is not used, which is to use improved seed, that is certified and endorsed by Snics, that is of good quality and not of the heap.
He stated that despite the fact that they always insist that verified and certified seed be planted, producers continue to take risks with any seed, which can be seen in the yield of the harvest.
He said that another of the reasons for the low bean production was that it had diseases caused by mites and also white mold.
Gathering
Regarding the support that they manage with producers, Aguilasocho Montoya revealed that as every year the organization’s warehouses have offered a month of grace in favor of the producers, and despite the fact that they have been getting closer, it is not to the extent that expected, since the collection has been much lower compared to other years.
“That is where it is shown that there is not the bean that was expected, because at this point the uptake in the warehouses is very low,” he said.

The president of the AARSP invited all producers to take advantage of the support that the organization brings and store their crops there to wait for a better price.
