Being a First World player will never be a gift from the gods, nor an action by others or a leader. Being a First World player means thinking like a First World player and acting like a First World player, even ignoring defeatist voices.
Being a first world player:
It is taking responsibility for our life.
It is giving up the comfort of indifference.
It is fighting for justice, even if that justice does not favor our interests.
It is putting democracy as a collective priority.
It is to reject any act of corruption, whether it affects us directly or not.
It is respecting the law and making it a personal code of ethics.
It is promoting universal values above any partisan or class interest.
Being a first world member means valuing our work, both to demand fair and decent remuneration, and to fully comply with it.
It is assuming our social, family and civic responsibility.
It is respecting and treating others as we wish to be respected and treated.
It is seeing the action of serving as an opportunity and privilege of life.
It is to aspire to a public position only when we are aware of possessing sufficient skills to perform it with honor and efficiency.
It is overcoming our fears and being willing to fight every day to be better.
It’s giving up the comfort of looking for guilty to strive to find solutions.
It is knowing that human dignity is not a bargaining chip.
Being a first world player is putting aside our complexes and resignations that keep us with the idea that we were born to be citizens of a second world.
It is emulating the example of our elders, who gave us a homeland, even paying the price of their lives.
Our nation has everything to be a first world player, it just waits for us Mexicans to decide so.
For a dignified and united Mexico let’s make a pact
Thanks.
