New disappointment for Battlefield 2042 players.
The tactical and team mode Hazard Zone from Battlefield 2042 has been revealed, but disappointed players believe that HE SAYS is making a “huge mistake” by not launching it as a free-to-play mode.
The free-to-play model has almost become an industry standard for the biggest multiplayer games, with Warzone, Apex Legends and Fortnite leading the pack, and Halo Infinite following suit in December. There were initial rumors that Battlefield 2042 would have a free-to-play mode, and many believed this would be Hazard Zone. However, it has now been confirmed that Hazard Zone will not be free-to-play and players feel this is a big mistake on the part of the development team.
Many have compared Hazard Zone to Firestorm, the Battlefield V battle royale that was locked behind a paywall and never took off. A user on Reddit he said: “It will be interesting for a while as it is new, but it will be dead in a few months, like Firestorm“. Another user claimed that Hazard Zone”it probably won’t last long, especially when faced with giants like Warzone“.
On the other hand however, some are happy not to see it free-to-play as it will likely discourage cheaters. Warzone has been plagued by cheaters who keep creating new accounts after being banned, so some believe a free-to-play Hazard Zone would suffer as well.
Battlefield 2042 will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC on November 19th.
