There Season 7 Of Battlefield 2042Turning Point, it will be the last for Electronic Arts' shooter. The confirmation arrived in these hours via a press release published on the official website of the series.
In the post, the DICE developers assure that this absolutely does not mean that post-launch support for the game has ended, with players can expect “new challenges, events, modes and ongoing maintenance”.
“When Battlefield 2042 launched, we promised to deliver four seasons of content, including new maps, additional specialists, weapons, vehicles, and more. As our seasons continued, the feedback we received made us realize that your desire to have more Battlefield 2042 remains strong,” the post reads. Last month we released the seventh season of Battlefield 2042 – Turning Point, which added a new intense urban map set in Chile, several weapons and a new gadget, with a revamped map based on the Hourglass Stadium location, two events in theme and a new weapon and vehicle coming soon.”
“While we have enjoyed and are proud to have created these seasons of additional content for Battlefield 2042, we must now move from the present to the future. This means that Season 7 will be the final season of Battlefield 2042. After the conclusion of Season 7 , we will continue to support the game with new challenges, events, modes and, of course, ongoing maintenance, but we are moving away from the offering represented by the official seasons.”
DICE wants to focus on the future of the series
Also from the press release we learn that the decision to conclude the seasons of Battlefield 2042 with the seventh was taken with the aim of shifting “resources and attention” towards the future of the series.
“We know this news may be disappointing. However, as we examined the needs of the future of the series, we realized it was time to shift our resources and focus to fully dedicate ourselves to what comes next,” it reads in the post.
At the moment we know very little about the future of the series, but it is clear that EA has big ambitions and has dedicated several of its internal studios to creating a great connected experience. In this regard, just today EA Motive announced that part of its team will join those of DICE, Ripple Effect and Criterion to develop the next games in the Battlefield franchise.
