At the time of this writing, skins have been removed from public view having apparently been revealed too soon, but the response to the skin in question has been particularly negative for fans of the brand.
Many have compared the approach to that of Fortnite and other Battle Royale-style games, which regularly introduce extravagant cosmetics. Among the users who have lashed out against this peculiar choice we find DogInSuit:
How is the mood supposed to be fun and lightheartedness when the intro tried pushing a failed-state, billions of non-pats, and the devestating effects of climate change? If they wanted to make a game with funny, kid-catered skins – it shouldn’t have been battlefield.

How is the atmosphere supposed to be fun and lighthearted when the intro tried to push a failed state and the devastating effects of climate change? If they wanted to make a game with fun, kid-friendly looks, it didn’t have to be a Battlefield.
Whether it is a ‘one-time addition for Christmas or if DICE plans to release more extravagant skins also in the future, but the reaction of the users of Battlefield 2042 it’s arguably more divisive than the development team expected.
It wasn’t an easy launch overall for Battlefield 2042, with several launch day issues and changes to the game attracting enough criticism to make it one of the worst reviewed games by users just a few weeks after launch. Battlefield 2042 is available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S.
