Launched in Early Access, Battlefield 2042 will not have one of the most important features.
Battlefield 2042 introduces a 32-player tactical mode called Hazard Zone. It is a team vs team match in which players must acquire randomly scattered data units and flee alive. Communication seems vital in such a mode, so it is slightly surprising that there is no system of voice chat team in Battlefield 2042 at its launch.
Voice chat will come “soon,” according to IT’S AT, but for the launch, DICE is working on the assumption that coordinated teams will communicate in Discord or other independent chat applications.
We currently don’t know why voice chat wasn’t included at launch, but that’s probably because the development studio is trying to figure out how not to turn it into a toxic environment. Poor player behavior in voice chat often pulls players away from multiplayer games and is something EA and DICE want to avoid.
The Battlefield 2042 release date is scheduled for November 19, but the game is currently in Early Access. If you haven’t done it yet, you can take a look at our review at this link.
