Bridges, who plays for the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, allegedly attacked his girlfriend while their two children watched from the side. The act of violence happened at the end of June in Los Angeles.
According to the authorities, the player faces up to 11 years and 8 months in prison.
Bridges was arrested on June 29 and released on $130,000 bail.
The player has denied his guilt last Wednesday. He will be heard next on August 19.
Bridges has played for the Hornets for four seasons. Last season, he posted career best game averages in points (20.2), assists (3.8) and rebounds (7.0). He played an average of 35 minutes every night.
The Hornets have reacted to the accusations of violence with few words.
“These are very serious allegations and we will continue to monitor them. As this is a legal matter, we have no further comment,” the club wrote on Twitter.
