Fnnish baseball|Juha Puhtimäki, who is one of Finland’s number one players, joins in raising PuMu to Superpesis.
For the first litter promoted Puna-Mustat acquired a tough class player for the next season, when Juha Puhtimäki joins the Helsinki club.
Puhtimäki, 39, moves to PuMuu from Manse PP in Tampere. Puhtimäki already said that last season was his last in Manse PP.
PuMu confirmed Puhtimäki’s transfer at a press conference on Wednesday in a Helsinki hotel.
Puhtimäki played in Manse PP for four years. During that time, the team won the Finnish championship and two silver medals. Born in Ilmajoki, Puhtimäki grew up to be a favorite of the Tampere public.
In his career, Puhtimäki has also played for Superpes in Koskenkorva Urheilijai, Seinäjoki Maila-Jussei, Nurmo Jymy, Hyvinkää Tahko and Joensuu Maila, where he won his first Finnish championship in 2018.
He was chosen as the baseball player and player of the year in 2019. He has played eight times in the annual prestigious baseball game in East-West.
PuMun the goal is to be a Super baseball club by 2027 at the latest. In the same year, the club hopes to play in a new baseball stadium in Meilahti.
“For the next season, we did not set a separate promotion goal”, the president of Puna-Musti Juho Juhantalo says.
Even earlier, PuMu said he was the hitter king Jere Dahlström’s44, who signed an extension contract with the club.
Dahlström ended up joining the club, attracted by Juhantalo. Löjätykki has known the chairman of the club since his youth and describes him as “good at talking.”
As well as representing Manse for six years Leevi Lehto continues his career at PuMu.
