Barclays: CEO Staley away after investigation into ties with Epstein

However, Staley intends to contest the contents of the report, pointing out that there is no indication that he was aware of or witnessed the crimes committed by EPSTEIN. Previously, Staley had expressed “deep regret” over his past dealings with EPSTEIN, of which he was a private banker when working for. JP Morgan, a relationship that continued for seven years after EPSTEIN was convicted of sexual offenses. His last contact with the financier dates back to 2015, when Staley and his wife were guests on the financier’s private island. The banker assured that he had no more contact with EPSTEIN after joining Barclays in December 2015. Convicted of child trafficking for prostitution in 2008, EPSTEIN then served only 13 months. Arrested again in the summer of 2019, he then committed suicide in prison in New York
