Barcelona condemned the “violence and contempt” that Koeman was subjected to as he left the Camp Nou after the 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Spanish Primera Liga last night.
Video clips on social media showed the fans surrounding Koeman’s car and preventing it from moving while the Dutch coach was trying to leave the stadium after Barcelona suffered a fourth consecutive loss in its confrontations with Real Madrid.
“FC Barcelona publicly condemns the acts of violence and contempt to which our coach was subjected when he was leaving the Camp Nou,” the Catalan club said on its Twitter account.
He added, “The club will take security and disciplinary measures so that such unfortunate events do not recur,” according to “Reuters”.
Barcelona is ninth in the league with 15 points from nine matches, six points behind Real Sociedad, who played ten matches.
Koeman is under pressure following the team’s poor results, which has led to speculation about his future at the club.
