And the Catalan newspaper, “Sport”, confirmed that Bounedjah, 29, is already wanted by Barcelona’s new coach, Xavi Hernandez, who supervised Bounedjah’s training in the Qatari league before leaving to his former team.
And the newspaper pointed out that Xavi spoke with the Barcelona administration, and asked to open the door to negotiations with Al Sadd regarding the inclusion of the international striker in the “Desert Warriors” team, next January.
“Sport” said that Bounedjah would be very useful for Barcelona’s attack, in light of the health crisis that Sergio Aguero suffered recently, the frequent injuries of Ansu Fati, and the fluctuation of Martin Braithwaite’s level.
Xavi recently returned to Barcelona as a technical director, after spending a period at Al Sadd as a player and then a coach, and led the Catalan team in the first match, Saturday, to beat its neighbor Espanyol with a clean goal.
Since the news of Xavi’s return to succeed Ronald Koeman in Barcelona’s training, talk has spread on the communication sites about the Spanish coach’s interest in including Bounedjah, after he more than once expressed his admiration for his player’s capabilities.
