The house of the Portuguese consul in Rio, in Botafogo, in the south of the city, was invaded by criminals in the early hours of Saturday, 30. The consul, family members and employees were there and were taken hostage, but no one was injured. The place where the residence is located also houses the seat of the consulate.
The case was registered at the 10th DP (Botafogo), and an expert report has already been carried out on the spot. According to the Civil Police, images from security cameras were requested and agents carried out investigations in the surroundings, including in a nearby forest, where criminals would have invaded the residence.
According to the newspaper The globe, the invasion occurred around 2 am.
The bandits were armed with pistols and knives. They tied up everyone in the house and left them in one of the rooms for about 50 minutes.
During the period, they took the opportunity to steal computer and documents.
The newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo contacted the Portuguese consulate and is awaiting positioning.
