Ballon d’Or 2021, 5 Italian finalists: Jorginho, Donnarumma, Barella, Bonucci and Chiellini
Of the 30 candidates for the 2021 Ballon d’Or, 5 are players of the Italian national team: Nicolò Barella, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Gigio Donnarumma and Jorginho.
The victory of the European Championships raised the odds of the Azzurri players, with Jorginho and Donnarumma having a good chance of final success.
A big step forward compared to the last two years, when there was not even an Italian footballer in the running. The last success of a blue dates back to 2006, when Fabio Cannavaro triumphed in the wake of the success at the world championship in Germany.
Has the time come for a new triumph? We will know on November 29 in Paris, when the team’s players Roberto Mancini they will have to contend with a parterre of great players.
