Pecco Bagnaia He was the fastest rider on the first day of free practice of the Dutch GP, the eleventh round of the 2022 MotoGP season, scheduled for this weekend at the iconic TT Circuit in Assen. The Italian rider, eleventh after the first morning session held in the rain, was immediately among the fastest in FP2 in the afternoon when, with the weather improving, the track gradually began to dry out.
After the first half of the session still in wet set-up, at the end Pecco came out of the pits mounting the slick tires, and achieved a fastest lap of 1: 33.274 with which he closed today’s ranking in the lead. Jack Miller, who had been the fastest this morning with the rain, ends on Friday with the fifth time, 559 thousandths behind his teammate. The Ducati Lenovo Team riders will be back on track tomorrow morning at 9:55 for FP3, which could still be held in mixed track conditions, while qualifying for the Dutch GP will be held in the afternoon starting at 14:10 local time. .
Francesco Bagnaia: “This morning I finished only eleventh because I didn’t have the chance to improve myself in the last minutes of the session, but in reality my feeling with the bike was good right from the start. The conditions this afternoon were really difficult, but we still managed to set some very fast times on the slick tires. I am very satisfied with this first day and now we will continue to work in this direction“.
Jack Miller: “In FP1 in the wet the conditions were really difficult due to the presence of a lot of water on the track, but the grip levels were not bad and the sensations with the tires were good. In the last minutes of FP2 we mounted the slicks using the basic setup we adopted after the Barcelona test and which allowed me to be competitive in Germany. Here too it seems to work very well, and now we just have to make a few small changes for tomorrow. In general it was a good Friday and now it will be important to be able to do well in FP3 tomorrow morning as well“.
