The Red Bull Ring has a new king when it comes to the fastest lap of a production car. This is the BAC Mono R which set a new record on the Austrian track, beating the time set previously by the Ferrari LaFerrari. The single-seater designed for use on the track e made in just 30 units reached an average speed of 196 km / h closing the fastest lap at 1: 32.96, improving by 6 seconds the one recorded by the super hybrid from Maranello (driven on that occasion by the German Hubert Haupt) which had completed the track in 1: 38.95. Author of the record, the British driver Adam Christodoulou.
“Another event, another lap record for Mono R”, said Ian Briggs, co-founder of BAC and director of design. “We are really happy to be at the top of the standings in such an extraordinary and iconic circuit. In the early stages of the car’s development we said that no record is safe at any circuit around the world and this record is certainly underlining what was expected. The R is an incredible machine and we can’t wait for the next giant to fall. Special thanks to our tire partner Pirelli for their excellent hospitality in Austria and for giving us the opportunity to seek the record ”.
The BAC Mono R has significantly less power than the Ferrari LaFerrari, with its 347 HP which made it possible to break the Red record thanks above all to its low weight. On the scale, in fact, the limited edition single-seater weighs only 555 kg. Another important help was provided by the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires approved for the road which allowed to guarantee maximum grip and download every single horse onto the asphalt. The BAC Mono R will now move to Germany, for the P Zero Experience in Hockenheim on October 14 where he will likely try to break another record.
