For the first time in an official way, PlatiumGames commented on the inglorious end of Babylon’s Fall referring to be “deeply sorry“for the failure of the game but also that the plans on live service games will continue.
We know the story: started as an extremely interesting project, Babylon’s Fall had a rather unexpected evolution when it turned out to be an action multiplayer live service, which made (even unfairly) immediately suspicious users and the press.
The problem is that the game then did not turn out to be quite up to expectations, extremely punished by users with very little online activity, so much so that the game practically died within a few months, despite the long-term plans that had been developed by Square Enix and PlatinumGames in this regard.
“We are deeply sorry for the dissatisfaction we have caused in the fan base,” said PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba.
However, this does not mark the end of the team’s plans for live service games: “We have learned a lot from this experience and it hasn’t changed our future plans for live service games. we absolutely want to develop and in which we want to invest in the future, “Inaba said.
Despite the regret for the bad end of Babylon’s Fall, therefore, it seems that PlatinumGames still intends to try again to develop such projects, while another title is coming from the same team but much more similar to its traditions, namely Bayonetta 3.
