The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, accuses Moncloa of attacking her through her partner. “It is clear that they have orchestrated a case from the President of the Government’s desk to try to destroy a political rival through her boyfriend,” he stated this Monday, after visiting the multinational Hyundai, in South Korea. The Madrid president insists on these accusations against the central Executive and maintains that “this in any democratic country brings down the entire Government,” according to a statement released by the regional Government.
Ayuso has made these statements after the newspaper ABC has published that allegedly Juan Lobato, general secretary of the PSOE-M, refused to release in a plenary session of the Assembly the email from the lawyer of Alberto González Amador, the president’s partner, with the alleged confession of several tax crimes. This newspaper claims that it was Pilar Sánchez-Acera, chief of staff of the Minister of Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, who provided that document to the leader of the Madrid socialists. They also publish that Lobato registered the conversation with Sánchez Acera before a notary on March 14, 2024. The visit to the notary office took place at the beginning of November.
Lobato denies this information. The spokesperson for the Madrid socialists has issued a statement in which he assures that he did go to a notary, but not for the reason indicated in the information from ABC. “I confirmed before a notary that neither the Madrid socialists nor Moncloa had received any information from the Prosecutor’s Office whatsoever regarding Mrs. Ayuso’s boyfriend,” he points out. And he adds: “On the contrary, it is proven that all the information came from the media.”
The leader of the Madrid socialists emphasizes that “there is no conspiracy theory as the Madrid PP tries to explain.” “What exists are political tricks to try to prevent people from talking about the central issue, which is that this Friday Ayuso’s boyfriend declares himself accused of two tax crimes and document falsification,” he indicates.
He did not consult with the PSOE leadership
In an appearance before the media, Lobato confirmed that he went to the notary “by his own decision.” “I do not consult with Ferraz or with the party leadership,” he confessed. He made that decision after a procedure was initiated in the Supreme Court for the leaking of the content of those emails. And he did it, as he explains, to prove that he did not have privileged information: “To make it clear that in my area there has not been any leak from the State Attorney General’s Office.”
The Madrid PP urges Lobato to make public that notarial act in which, according to the Madrid socialist leader’s version, it is stated that Sánchez Acera did not provide him with privileged information about González Amador. He insists that this documentation was already published by the media and they only consulted that news.
“I do not see that it is appropriate to make public the content of a private conversation,” Lobato responded this Monday in the Madrid Assembly. Furthermore, he explained that he left the notary’s office without a copy of the record that he had just registered. However, he points out that it is the notary’s office that must detail why it has been made public that he recorded those conversations with his party partner.
For her part, the president insists on her direct confrontation with the central government and notes that Pedro Sánchez’s cabinet is using “the powers of the State, committing all types of illegalities to try to destroy the adversary.”
Ayuso defends her partner
The head of the Madrid Executive has indicated “that everything begins at the president’s table.” “Everything is always orchestrated by him and his environment. And this is very serious, it is very serious and I think I no longer know what else has to happen to put an end to a Government disaster like this, whose legislature should never have even begun,” he noted.
Later in an interview on Cadena Cope, Ayuso defended her partner, who she considers to be being attacked by members of the Government as if they were “thugs.” For the president, both “ministers” and “all types of positions” have not “hesitated to tarnish the name of an individual who does not have a photo on WhatsApp because they do not even have social networks, an individual who has nothing to do with anything the politics of no one, of nothing, who has not lived from this.”
