Juarez City.- Since the start of the campaign against animal abuse implemented by the Municipal Department of Ecology, six informative talks have been held, reported César Díaz, director of the department.
These talks took place in a variety of settings, primarily at maquiladora companies and a local university that offers classes on Saturdays.
The municipal official announced that new sessions will begin in at least 12 schools starting on August 26, once students return to class.
The campaign has shown a growing interest in the topic of animal welfare, and there are now plans to organise forums and symposia focusing on legislative aspects and action protocols.
However, despite the interest and progress shown, challenges have arisen. Recently, a case was reported where a dog in critical condition died due to restrictions on access to the property.
This incident highlighted the need to adjust and improve intervention protocols, which were a topic of discussion during the awareness campaign.
Diaz said authorities were unable to act without a court order, limiting their ability to respond immediately in emergency situations.
This fact also highlighted the difficulties faced by activists and the general public in trying to understand the legal limits of the intervention.
They respond to initiatives
The campaign received a generally positive response, with growing interest in raising awareness about animal welfare.
Young people, particularly those aged 14 to 25, showed greater openness and understanding towards these issues, compared to older adults, who often showed greater resistance to changing their perspectives on the treatment of animals.
This generational shift was relevant for planning future phases of the campaign.
Next phase, expand scope
Regarding the evaluation of the campaign, César Díaz considered that it was an initial success, with a provisional rating of 8 out of 10.
However, he acknowledged that there was still much work to be done, saying that the next phase of the campaign would focus on expanding the reach through traditional media, such as television, to reach audiences that were not as active on social media.
The municipal official also said that the project will also seek to raise awareness about the consequences of animal abuse and highlight the importance of complying with established regulations.
The director said that the campaign received support from the municipal administration, which allocated resources and attention to animal welfare.
