Actor Seela Sella will receive this year’s Alli Trygg Recognition Award from the Settlement Association. In addition to her work as an artist, Sella is an active social activist and defender of justice.
The Alli Trygg Recognition Award is presented annually to a person who has highlighted issues important to the Settlement Movement and profiled himself in the social debate by highlighting key values for civil society.
Founded in 1918, the Union of Settlements is the central organization of a religiously and politically independent settlement movement. The starting point is the reduction of inequality, respect for the individual and the appreciation of diversity, as well as trust in people and their resources.
Civic activist Alli Trygg-Helenius (1852–1926) were pioneers of settlement work in Finland.
Award criteria according to Sella is an open-minded person who shows an interest in life and people.

Sella has also taken a public stand for social justice and supports the activities of the Girls’ House, for example, in the spirit of intergenerational solidarity, ”says the CEO of the Settlement Association. In the summer, Seela Sella took part in handing over a statement from the cultural and events sector affected by the interest rate crisis and demanding change. Sella has also publicly expressed concern about the rise of the National Socialist idea and the fact that nothing has been learned from the events of history.
