Aviation Rolls-Royce believes it has developed the world’s fastest electric aircraft: Tests reached more than 600 kilometers per hour

Rolls-Royce says it has sent the results of its test flights to the International Federation of Aviation for verification.

British luxury car and engine maker Rolls-Royce has developed an electric aircraft that the company believes is the fastest electric aircraft in the world. The British Broadcasting Corporation, among others, reports this BBC.

The company said in a statement on Friday that during test flights in Wiltshire, England on Tuesday, its Spirit of Innovation electric aircraft reached a maximum speed of 623 kilometers per hour.

The record covered up to 213 kilometers per hour, the previous speed record for an electric aircraft manufactured by Siemens in 2017.

The top speed was reached by Rolls-Royce test pilot and operations director Phill O’Dell.

Rolls-Royce according to it, its plane also rose to an altitude of 3,000 meters in 202 seconds, 60 seconds faster than the world record for an electric plane.

The top speed was reached by the company’s test pilot and the director responsible for flight operations Phill O’Dell.

Rolls-Royce says it has sent the results of its test flights to the International Aviation Association (FAI) for verification.

In electric aircraft There is a lot of potential in reducing emissions from aviation and on difficult routes, according to a study published by the Finnish Technology Research Center VTT and the University of Jyväskylä this autumn.

BTI reported on the study in October, according to which electric aircraft could offer a fast and low – emission alternative, especially for routes across the Baltic Sea or for domestic cross – border traffic.

VTT estimates that the first electric aircraft could be seen on commercial routes within five years.
