On the occasion of the award ceremony of the Autosport Awards Held last Sunday at London’s Grosvenor House, an auction was also held in support of the Grand Prix Trust, a charity that offers support to the community of individuals with a history in Formula 1, including former drivers and employees.
In the course of the evening it emerged that the offer that won a tour for four people at the Mercedes factory in Brackley was that proposed by Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull, who participated on behalf of the team.
The winning bid was 4,000 pounds, and once the news began to circulate on social networks, the irony was unleashed on the thought of Horner as a “tourist” in the enemy’s lair.
However, sifting through the terms and conditions of the award, it became clear that Horner could not have taken part in the tour in Mercedes because this visit is expressly forbidden for employees of other Formula 1 teams.
However, the generosity of the donations made it possible to raise a total of 46,752 pounds for the charity.
