General Motors and Cadillac presented an interesting concept a autonomous driving at the Consumer Electronics Show 2022. The Las Vegas fair was an opportunity to show the vehicle InnerSpace, a sort of luxury sedan, for two people, with a focus on SAE level 5 given the total absence of driving controls. The project is part of the portfolio Cadillac Halo Concept, where the current boundaries of the car of the future are explored and overcome.
“Cadillac Halo Concept Portfolio vehicles are designed to provide effortless travel by extraordinary means“Said Bryan Nesbitt, executive director of GM, Global Advanced Design and Global Architecture Studio. “This is a new way of looking at aid in the coming decades“. InnerSpace joins PersonalSpace, a sort of eVtol, and SocialSpace, a six-seater vehicle. In the future there will also be another project, OpenSpace.
Conceptually, the car portrays in a different way, compared to the other two vehicles, the way passengers could use their time while traveling. Full autonomy takes away the responsibility of controlling the vehicle, while design and advanced technologies are the business card that Cadillac would like to continue to exhibit. The new InnerSpace concept it is completely based on artificial intelligence and biometric recognition. Interior accessories are accessible via a panoramic SMD LED display: allowing passengers to choose between Augmented Reality Engagement, Entertainment and Wellness Recovery themes for their driving. Thanks to Ultifi, Cadillac engineers and authorized third parties will be able to innovate themes and features that can be added over the air.
With the wireless battery management system, via the Ultium platform, the battery modules have been distributed in order to increase passenger compartment and trunk space. The seating position is extremely low, similar to that of a sports car. On the outside, the InnerSpace concept features a large panoramic glass on the roof and parts of the body sides for an almost unobstructed view. The roof opens with doors for more comfortable entry and exit, and the seats also rotate outward. The tires, developed by Goodyear, are equipped with SoundComfort technology to eliminate much of the noise caused by rolling.
